He was predeceased by: his parents, Orin F. Burdette and Margaret Redmon Burdette; his brothers, Bob Burdette, John Burdette, Jim Burdette and Bud Burdette; and his brother-in-law Ed "Sharky" Poole.
He is survived by: his daughter Sandra Mehring (Eddie) of Walkersville, Maryland; his grandchildren, Victoria Mehring, Jennifer Brooke Shecter (Mike) and Bradley Mehring; his great grandchildren, Dallas Smith, Ash Shecter, Kate Shecter and Ben Shecter; and his siblings, Bertha Poole of Damascus, Linda Roberts (Denny) of Mr, Darby Burdette (Patty) of West Virginia and Billy Bradshaw of Damascus, Maryland. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and many great friends.
