He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett McIllwain and Hazel McIllwain; and his brother Jim McIllwain. He is survived by: his wife Amelia Dunn McIllwain (Mimi); his son David McIllwain (Christina); his grandchildren, Tague, Sophie and Estee; his daughter Amy McIllwain Brown (Todd); and his grandchildren, Allie Brown Lewis (Jonathan) and Cooper Brown.

Family asks that in lieu of flower donations be made to Humane Society of Sumner County or Community Church of Hendersonville/focus2020 Campaign.
