It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ruth Louise (Barkley) Smyre of Hendersonville, Tennessee, who passed away on February 20, 2023, at the age of 102, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Uray Smyre; her son Larry Elvin; her parents, William Thomas Barkley and Leola Pearl Jones Barkley; and her sisters, Catherine and Julia.
She is survived by: her grandchildren, Bart, Patrick and Leslie; her great grandchildren, Frances and Ruth; and her great-nieces and great-nephews, Maddon, Stella, Maisy, Michael, Sanorina, Josie and Sergio.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to West Hickory Baptist Church, Hickory, NC.
