He was predeceased by: his parents, William Irvin and Fannie Lou Gravitt Carter; his siblings, Bill Carter and Charlsey Baker; and his granddaughters, Jamie and Katie Carter.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Hill of Henderson; and his children, Ricky Carter of Haleyville, AL, Steve Carter (Mechele) of Haleyville, AL, Geoff McLemore (Nichole) of Henderson and Kelly Beth Harris (John) of Bluffton, SC. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to Alzheimer's Association.
