He was predeceased by: his parents, L. T. Burkhead and Jessie Melvina Ridley Burkhead; his former wife Peggy Ann Braden; and his siblings, Tommy Keith Burkhead, Mike Burkhead and Dorothy Turner.
He is survived by: his wife Pat Reinhardt Burkhead of Henderson; his sisters, Delores Hatch of Henderson, Helen Weaver (Daryl) of Burkburnett, TX and Louise Burkhead; his nephews, Wesley Weaver of Oklahoma and Chris Weaver of Colorado; his mother-in-law Ruth Hyatt; and his siblings-in-law, Ricky Hyatt of Germany and Jo Ellen Dillon of Brookhaven, MS..
