She was predeceased by: her parents, Benton Johns and Idelia Wix Johns; her sons, Michael and Joey Carter; and her sister Edna Harris.

She is survived by: her husband David Sims; her grandchildren, Michael, Peyton and Lydia; and her brothers, Robert Johns (Kathy) and W. C. Johns (Ruby). She is also survived by 2 Great Grandchildren.
