He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Sampson Mumford and Lunerva Marie Mumford. He is survived by: his wife Sally Mumford; his children, Thomas S. Mumford, Kelly Wade Mumford, Tonya Webb (Fred) and Wanda Lieving (Jeron); his siblings, Frank Mumford (Leda), Kathy Fox (Dennis) and Kimberly Chastman; his grandchildren, Tyler Webb (Melea), Caitlyn Webb, Ethan Webb, Payton Lieving and John John Lieving; and his caregiver Pam Fox. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Turner Funeral Home (3913 Webb Rd, Chattanooga, TN 37416). A funeral service was held on Saturday, January 4th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
