She was predeceased by: her husband Paul "Bud" Mathis; and her parents, Milum Simpson Surgenor and Minnie Catherine Rogers Surgenor. She is survived by: her children, Virginia "Ginny" Mathis, Rebecca "Becky" Mathis Phillips (Ted), Christopher "Chris" Mathis (Missy), Paula Mathis Brown and Matthew Mathis (Olivia); and her grandchildren, Meredith Laymance (Brent), Nick Ledford (Krystina), CJ Mathis (Kassi), Brandon Mathis, Holley Ledford, Bradley Mathis, Jasmine Mathis and Sophie Mathis.
