He was predeceased by: his parents, Mack McCray and Gertrude Ewing League McCray; his daughter Deidra Inman; and his sister Joann Cozart Dawson. He is survived by: his children, Sherry Sanders of Oak Ridge, Terry Sanders of Oak Ridge, Kelvin Inman of Knoxville, Elroy Sammons of Harriman and Frank Sammons (Mary) of Nashville; his siblings, Howard Ewing (Pecola) of Emory Gap and Alma Cozart of Emory Gap; his aunt Permelia Anderson (Curtis) of Harriman; and his uncle John Ewing of Knoxville. He is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.
