He was predeceased by : his parents, George Oody and Alva Oody; his brothers, Doug and Glen Oody; his mother-in-law Ada Britton; and his siblings-in-law, Donnie Webster, Tom Forrester, Maynard Britton, Jr., Irene Hines, Ruby Bledsoe and Wilma Hicks.

He is survived by : his wife Joby B. Oody of Harriman; his daughter Robin; his son-in-law Darren McBroom of Harriman; his son Darrell; his daughter-in-law Charlene Oody of Signal Mountain; his stepdaughter Patricia Britton of Knoxville; his sisters, Janice Webster of Harriman and Patsy Forrester of Kingston; and his sisters-in-law, Betty Oody of Harriman and Vontella Whalen of Harriman. He is also survived by 3 granddaughters, 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
