She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Simerly and Marie Street Simerly; her son Brian Chambers; and her brothers, Norman Simerly and D. C. Simerly.

She is survived by: her friend Senior Class; her husband Lawrence "L. J."; her daughters, Chastity Bowers (Jonathan) and Jessica Birchfield; her grandsons, Allston Harrison, Blake King and Nicholas Bowers; her siblings, Shelby Hughes, Harlan Simerly, Gary Simerly (Jeannie), Brooks Simerly (Sandy), Edward Simerly (Patricia) and Nick Simerly; her niece Amy Simerly Campbell; and her sisters-in-law, Kathy, Joyce, Judy, Jo, Shirley and Mary.
