He is survived by: his wife Vicki Bowers; his children, Shelia Akin of Hampton, TN, Rhonda Akin of Cody, WY, Jessie Bowers of Hampton, TN and Justin Johnson of Lubbock, TX; his sister Lucille Jones of Elizabethton, TN; and his half-brothers, John Bowers of Manchester, TN and Ronnie Bowers of Manchester, TN.. He is also survived by seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter.
