He was predeceased by: his parents, Glenn H. Smith and Ruth Smith Franklin; his aunts, Trula Hobock, Ruby Woods and Helen; his grandfather Bulldog Cox (Lucille McBee); and his uncle Swan McBee.

He is survived by: his cousins, Mickie Cox, Brenda Cox Irick, Shelia Cox and Gerald; his close friend Peanut; and his cousin Rocky Walker.

In lieu of flowers, family is requesting donations be made to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
