He is survived by: his father Johnie Leon Nelson Sr. of Halls, TN; his wife Joyce O. Nelson (Simpson) of Halls, TN; his children, Gwinn Dennis (Chris) of Williamsburg, VA, Jeremiah Kilpatrick (Amanda) of Poplar Bluff, MO, Vanessa, Crystal, Tiffany and Danny Nelson; his grandchildren, Chris Jr., Chaston, Caleigh, Crysten Henson, Maki, Talayeh Dennis, Braylon, Alaina Kilpatrick, Izzy Young and Charlie Gracia; and his siblings, Marie Pounders of Ripley, TN, Sharon Stephens (Henry) of Ripley, TN, Wanda Harbor of Halls, TN and Bobby Nelson of Halls, TN. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, bonus grandchildren, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
On October 12, 2021, Johnie departed this life and entered into eternal rest surrounded by his wife, son, and daughter in Oxford, Mississippi, after a courageous battle with Covid Pneumonia.
