He was predeceased by: his wife Arlene Smith (Gunter); and his mother Lillie Prater (Barnette). He is survived by: his children, Ronnie Dale Smith (Barbara) and Diana Tobe (Roger); his grandchildren, Noel Smith (Leanna), Nathan Smith, Amanda Smith Heflin (Shannon), Nick Tobe (Gulhan) and Tony Tobe (Kristina); and his great grandchildren, Weston Smith, Kori Rose Smith, Olivia Grace Heflin, Carter Bryce Heflin, Abigail Fraley, Ashton Tobe, Kye Tobe, Logan Jasper and Hayden Jasper (Ruby Prater).
Visitation was held on Wednesday, January 1st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Jennings Funeral Homes, Inc. (414 N Main St, Jamestown, TN 38556). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Mt. Carmel Freewill Baptist Church (4505 S York Hwy, Jamestown, TN 38556).
In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations to St. Jude's and they can be left at Jennings Funeral Homes.
