He was predeceased by: his wife Vivian Tharp; his sons, Steven Tharp and Ricky Tharp; and his parents, Edd Tharp and Lula Pearl Tharp.

He is survived by: his daughter Vickie Mills (Brad) of Cordova, TN; his grandchildren, Jimmy Mills (Whitney) and Emily Pearson (West); and his brother Jerry Tharp. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren.
