He was loved and cherished by many people including: his wife Gladys Brown; his son Michael Brown; his stepchildren, Shane Smelcer and Gina Wilhoit; his grandchildren, Shainah, Shyanne Wilhoit, Jennifer Beasley and Bella Owens; his brother Buddy; his sister-in-law Ann Brown; his sister JoAnn Brown Luttrell; his brother-in-law Jack (Patsy Story); his close friends, Lonnie Livesay and Mike Swift; his parents, Halk Brown and Katie Brown; his sister Betty; his siblings-in-law, Charles Hinkle, Patsy Brown and Goldie Story; and his mother-in-law Myrtle Wilhoit. He was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in his memory.
