He was predeceased by: his parents, John Pyles and Rosalie Pyles; his son James Franklin Pyles Jr.; his son-in-law Curtis Daugherty; and his siblings, Anna Mae Pyles, John Pyles and Kenny Wayne Pyles.
He is survived by: his wife Maria Pyles; his children, Denise Pyles (Jessie Bowman), Amber Brown (William Gill), Heidi (Christopher Crawford) and Joshua (Erin Vicory); and his brothers, Harold Pyles and Dale Pyles. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren.
