He was predeceased by: his parents, Dr. James O. Hale and Mary Ogle Hale; and his sisters, Nancy Hale, Cindy Hale Randolph and Karen Hale Noel.

He is survived by: his wife Debbie Hale; his children, Lisa (Karl Brown), Pam Branden, Miles (Ashley Kilday) and Chris (Jennifer Lloyd); and his grandchildren, Tyler, Chloe Brock, Clay, Lauren Brock, Cole Brown, Austin Lloyd, Emma Lloyd, Olivia Branden, Marlee Kilday and Jackson Kilday.
