He was predeceased by: his wife Betty Jean Hopson; his son Keith Hopson; his parents, Bernie Hopson and Lena Hopson; and his brothers, Raven Hopson, Gordon Hopson and Dennis Hopson.

He is survived by: his daughter Jennifer Rhoten (Wayne); and his siblings, Gene Hopson (Betty), Duard Hopson and Bernice Waits. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
