He was predeceased by: his parents, David Ellis and Edith Waits Smelcer; his son David Leighton Smelcer; and his sister Wilma Smelcer Swatzell. He is survived by: his wife Mary Belle Shelton Smelcer; his daughter Melissa Smelcer Bowen (Chris); his grandsons, Kevin Smelcer (Michelle), Brandon Smelcer (Nikki) and Samuel Bowen; his great grandchildren, Drew, Emma, Levi, Aurora and Willow; his brother-in-law Eugene Swatzell; and his nieces, Teresa Morelock (Myrl), Anita Austin (Buddy) and Pebbles Young (Dan).
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Jeffers Mortuary. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, January 26th 2025 at 3:00 PM.
