He was predeceased by: his parents, Dink Hurd and Ruth Sauceman Hurd; his siblings, Dollie Hurd Sams and Murphy Hurd; his nephews, Mike Sams, Terry Pruitt and Andy Arrington; his niece Anna Bishop; his parents-in-law, Barnett and Anna Hughes Kelley; and his siblings-in-law, Louise Kelley Moore, Genevieve Kelley Headrick Malone, Janis Ellenburg Kelley Carter, Paul Kelley, Jack Moore, Wayne Headrick, Folly Malone and Autry Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley Kelley Hurd; his brother David Lynn Hurd; his sister-in-law Shelby Johnson; and his nieces and nephews, Rick Sams (Melinda), Sandy Pruitt, Sherry Arrington, Debbie Deweese, Vicki Wisecarver, Phillip Kelley (Beverley), Jeff Kelley (Laura), Jerry Headrick (Meta), Lisa Kindle (Jim), Randy Johnson (Enola) and Rick Johnson (Lisa). He is also survived by great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, November 22nd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home (1125 Tusculum Blvd, Greeneville, TN 37745). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 21st 2024 at 7:00 PM and on Friday, November 22nd 2024 at 7:00 AM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, November 22nd 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Pine Grove Cemetery (3005 Bright Hope Rd, Greeneville, TN 37743).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Grove Church or to the Greene County YMCA.
