He was predeceased by: his parents, Rachel Senior and Maurice J Gilbert Senior; his wife Loretta; and his siblings, Robert Gilbert, Dorothy Dunham and Gloria Dunham.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Gilbert (Sally) of Huntersville North, Carolina, Patricia Schmidt (Stephan) of Greenback, Diane Marston (Chris), Christopher Gilbert (Donna) of Orlando and Andrea Gilbert-Nanni of Orange City, Florida; his grandchildren, Shannon Danko, Morgan Burt, Bryan, Michael, Erika Schmidt, Vanessa Burleson, Katrina Couch, Joseph Meyer, Stephanie Cook, Kristen Carimi, Christopher Gilbert, Alexandra and Anthony Nanni; his great grandchildren, Gabrielle, Mason Burleson, Aaliyah Nanni-Williams, Beckham Carimi, Von Burt, Madilyn Cook, Isabelle Couch, Mila Carimi, Colton Couch, Bailey Cook, Veda Burt and Memphis Orr; and his sister Evelyn Bayless of Elizabethtown.
