He was predeceased by: his parents, David Porter and Ada Artrip Porter; and his siblings, Clyde Porter, James Paul Porter, John Porter, Thelma Armstrong and Dorothy Thomas.
He is survived by: his wife Ella Marie Porter; his children, Pamela Porter Elam (Tommy), Patty Porter Deaderick, William Porter II (Cory) and Cindy Porter Phipps; his grandchildren, Colton (Kaleigh Deaderick), Nicholas (Briana Watlington), Chase Phipps and Dru Phipps (Ashlyn Phipps); his sister Mildred Painter (Ted); his sister-in-law Thelma Porter; and his niece Cherie Porter.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made the Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, S.C. 29605.
