She was predeceased by: her parents, Lloyd Ruskin Shipley and Chola Shipley (Hodges) of Gray; her husband Petie Gardner; her son Preston Gardner; and her siblings, Lucille Shipley and Joseph Shipley.

She is survived by: her children, Deborah Ann Chandler and Richard Gardner, MD; her grandsons, Dennis Gardner, Jason Chandler of Cara Gardner, DVM and Robert Chandler (Bobby); her great grandchildren, Amber Chandler, Madison Chandler, Hayden Chandler, Piper Chandler and Coen Cowley; and her nieces, Noella Hensley (Shipley) and Regina Hill (Shipley).

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Washington County Animal Shelter, as Miriam was a devoted animal, particularly cat, lover.
