He was predeceased by: his mother Ann Pate Hopkins; his stepfather Joe Hopkins of Gainesboro; his father Charles R. Caruthers; his sister Carolyn Caruthers; his grandparents, Vivian Cooper Pate and I. B. Pate of Gainesboro; and his aunt Polly Pate Duff.
He is survived by: his brother Charles Pate Caruthers of Jacksonville, NC; his nieces, Autumn Wingfield of Jacksonville and Misty Denson (Jamie) of Gainesboro; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Jayden Wingfield, Kayleigh, Logan and Hailey Denson; his cousins, Patricia Pate Duff Mitchell (Huey) of Madison, AL and Gill Cooper Duff (Martha) of Nashville; his extended family Blake Cooper Meeks (Laci) of Suwanee, GA.; and his uncle Truman Bold Duff of Nashville.
