He was predeceased by: his parents, John David Burton and Margaret Burton Pettyjohn; his wife Lillian Burton; his stepdaughter Paulette Walker; and his brother Carl Brady.
He is survived by: his children, Julia Zimmerman (Phillip) of Grandview, John Wilburn Burton Jr. (Rebecca) of Hixson, Thomas Burton (Angie) of Dayton and Vikki Johnson (Hugh); and his siblings, Rick Brady of Dayton, James Pettyjohn of Sevierville, Tennessee, Brenda Hallberg of Harrison and Jennie Bartman of Wisconsin. He is also survived by his 15 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
