He was predeceased by: his parents, James Preston and Ruby Elizabeth Rollins Preston; his wife Betty Claridy Preston; and his brothers, Dewey Preston, Charles Preston and Jimmy Preston (Crow).

He is survived by: his sisters, Linda Wells and Thelma Jean Pope; his granddaughter Maryann Cabrera; his sons, Jeff Preston (Alisha) of Gordonsville, TN and Jason Preston (Megan) of Gordonsville, TN.; his grandchildren, Hunter Preston, Elizabeth Preston, Will Cabrera (Joleen) and Shane Hudson; his great grandchild John Ireland; and his sisters, Darlene Alvis (J. T.) of Lebanon, TN and Rebecca Malone of Gordonsville, TN..

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to assist with medical and funeral expenses.
