He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Garrett and Mary Mahan Garrett Brooks. He is survived by: his wife Betty Oswald Garrett; his children, Jim Garrett (Debra), Debbie McDuffie (Dennis) and Lisa Hammons; his grandchildren, Lauren McDuffie, Adam McDuffie (Chanel), Caleb Hammons (Greyson), Spencer Hammons, Emily Hammons, Niki Garrett and Kara Garrett; and his brothers, Harold and David Garrett.
