She was predeceased by: her parents, Pearlie Mae and Earl "Sonny" Ovistus Gary. She is survived by: her husband John Nelson; her stepchildren, Shateka Watson, Shaneka Terrell and Javonte Terrell; and her sister Margaret Young. She is also survived by nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
