He was predeceased by: his parents, Shade Napier and Kittie Martin Napier; his wife Pauline Wood Napier; his siblings, Sherman Napier, Radford Napier, Ed Napier and Joe Napier; and his son-in-law John W. Johnson, II.
He is survived by: his daughters, Lisa Johnson of Old Hickory and Betty M. Shelby (James) of Springfield, Tennessee; and his grandchildren, John W. Johnson, III (Amy), Lauren Johnson, Sarah Shelby, Mya Baker and Gloria Kane. He is also survived by nieces nephews and cousins.
