He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Carter and Liza Mae Carter; and his son-in-law Jonathan Denton. He is survived by: his wife Deborah Carter; his children, Amber Haney (Kenneth), Phillip Carter, Robert Carter (Tammy), Danny Carter, John Ray Carter, Jr. (Vicki), David Carter (Pauline) and Kathy Herston; and his aunt Jeanette Damon. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several other aunts, uncles, and cousins.
