He was predeceased by: his parents, Boss Butler and Creola Butler; his sister Lula Butler Kidwell; his children, Connie Collins and Tony Reagan; and his great grandchild Chloé McKinney McCarter.

He is survived by: his wife Marie Butler; his children, John Butler, Ray Butler (Emily), Karen Reagan, Bob Reagan (Debbie), Rhonda Chambers (Odis), Mary Whaley (Arlie) and Lisa Quilliams (Mike); his brother Glenn Butler; and his son-in-law Michael Collins. He is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
