He was predeceased by: his parents, William Howard Sr. (Dee Schmidt) and Jean (Ed Hatfield); and his sister Althea Brown (Bugajean). He is survived by: his wife Judy Schmidt of Franklin, TN; his children, Trey Schmidt of Franklin, TN, Randy Schmidt (Alice) of Spring Hill, TN, John Schmidt of Shelbyville, TN, Mike Schmidt (Carey) of Franklin, TN and Susan Bennett (Tim) of Thompsons Station, TN; his brother-in-law Donald Brown of Pegram, TN; his grandchildren, Jen Dyer (Mitch), TJ Bennett (Hali), James Schmidt, Mason Schmidt, Taylor Thomas (Tim), Cody Schmidt, Hannah Bennett and Jacob Schmidt; and his great grandchildren, Addy, Aubree Atkins, Ellie Dyer, Knox Bennett and Nathan Thomas.
