He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Payne and Gertrude Payne; his siblings, Glen W. Payne (VanLua) and Wanda Morris (Darrell); and his niece Carla Payne Watters.
He is survived by: his nieces and nephews, Todd Payne (Lori), Cole Payne, Jordan Traylor (Morgan), Mike Watters, Darla Hammons (Kevin) and Marla Traylor. He is also survived by his nieces, nephews and the many cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in his memory to: MD Anderson Cancer Center or the Southern Gospel Music Hall of Fame.
