He is survived by: his children, Sonya Windrow, Shelika Walker (Terrance), John Poynter, Jr. (Sherry) and Brad Poynter; his grandchildren, ShaBree Dodson, Devonte'Poynter, Sheria Poynter, Chantelle Dodson, Sheridan Poynter, Sherae Poynter and Sharissa Draine; his great grandchildren, Cayden Williams, Jaylen Jones, Saylor Jones, A'Ryiah Hambright and A'Ryan Dodson; and his siblings, Mary Lee Poynter, Louise Poynter, Annie Ruth Poynter, Dorothy Poynter, Linnie Poynter, Agnes Poynter and Hardin Poynter (Sara). He is also survived by nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends.
The lying in state will be held on Friday, November 15th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Waters Funeral Home (1408 Columbia Ave, Franklin, TN 37064). Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 16th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Lynn Creek Tabernacle (117 Fairground St, Franklin, TN 37064).
