He was predeceased by: his parents, Mike Garner Simmons and Judy Alice Wray; and his sisters, Hazel Bruce, Carolyn Greer, Mary Alice Simmons, Sarah Simmons and Dorothy Simmons.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ethel Poteete Simmons. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
