He was predeceased by: his son Stacy Lee Thompson; his parents, James M. Sr. Thompson and Rebecca Glenn Thompson; and his brother Dwight David Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Brenda Rader Thompson; his sons, Bryan Thompson (Paula) and Tracy Linn Thompson (Dalaina); his grandchildren, Jake Thompson, Josh Thompson, Chance Thompson, Lexie Thompson and Callie Grace Thompson; his sister Joyce Thompson Bomar; and his nieces, Shea Richardson (Shane) and Jacey Bomar.
Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or St. Jude Children's Hospital.
