He was predeceased by: his parents, Lois Freeman (Lane) and Richard Freeman; and his grandson Specialist Jackson Johnson. He is survived by: his children, James Freeman II of Hillsboro, MO and April Johnson (Jason) of Hillsboro, MO; his granddaughters, Renee Johnson and Makayla Hall (Barnett); his sister Lois Shane of Tullahoma, TN; and his nieces, Rebecca Shane, Kelly Shane and Jessica Hale. He is also survived by many friends who became brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to help with medical and funeral expenses.
