He was predeceased by: his parents, Roland Lewis Newsom and Mattie May Womble Newsom; his wife Ella Mae Newsom; his daughter Deborah Susan Hargrove; and his siblings, Nora Blackwell, Louise Holt, Ray Newsom, James Newsom, Paul Newsom and Coy Newsom.
He is survived by: his children, Randolph Lewis, Dennis Alfred Newsom (Sue), Daphne Gay Newsom and Wendy Vanee'Mock; and his brother George Newsom. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
