He was predeceased by: his parents, Eugene Hampton, Jr. and Delois Goodrich Hampton; his daughter Sherry Dixon; and his siblings, Nancy Ann Goodrich, Lois Jean Hampton, Martha Dean Parks, Thomas Hampton and Norman Hampton.
He is survived by: his wife Rachel D. Hampton; his children, Pamela Humphrey, Kawania Harris and John Hampton, Jr. (Vananda); his siblings, Mattie Edmiston (Ernest), Theodora Edmiston, Bernettia Stewart (Herbert) and James Hampton; his grandchildren, Cameron Ricks, Morgan Humphrey, Tyler C. Harris, Zach Hampton and Jonathan Hampton; and his great grandchild Kamilla Humphrey.
