He was predeceased by: his mother Nancy Lou Smith Brooks; his wife Betty Jane Henry Brooks (Betty); his father Ernest Odell Brooks; his mother-in-law Elsie Williams Johnson; his son Ernest Edward Brooks Jr. (Eddie); his brothers, Hyrum Brooks and Joseph Brooks; and his great grandchild Lily Elizabeth Thomas.
He is survived by: his daughters, Denise Brooks Kidd (William) of Fayetteville, Tennessee and Connie Brooks Pitpitan (Siegfred) of Fayetteville, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Russell Brooks (Angela), Adam Brooks, Dr. Charles Kidd (Meghan), Rebekah Kidd Thomas (Jeremiah) and Dr. Calvin Kidd (Haley); his sisters, Edna Merle Clemons of South Jordan, Utah and Charlotte Johnson Gray (Robert) of Batesville, Mississippi; and his neighbors, Rae and Jenny Gordon. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Fayetteville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church or Fayetteville First United Methodist Church.
