He was predeceased by: his parents, William Roy and Sarah Justine Payne Ledbetter; and his siblings, Frances, Mary Ann Ledbetter Mobley, Lindaree Ledbetter Pearce and Thomas Wheeler Ledbetter.
He is survived by: his wife Nora Beth Ledbetter; his sons, William S. (Deborah), David R. and Marcus P. (Jennifer); his sister Jane Ledbetter Ernst; his grandchildren, Kathrine Ledbetter Smith (Kenneth), Abigail M., Michael C. (Valerie), Nicholas A., Tuck E., Samuel P. and Eliza W. Ledbetter; and his great grandchild Theodore Charles Howard Smith (Teddy). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
