Venita Marcia (Wagner) Burling Obituary
Venita Burling died on July 18, 2022, after a wonderful and full life. Our grief is assuaged by the knowledge that our beloved wife, mother, and friend touched so many lives in many positive ways. Venita was born on July 24, 1936, in Wood County, Wisconsin, to Reka and Kenneth Wagner.
She graduated from Rib Lake HS in 1955, then received her teaching degree from Taylor County and graduated from UW-Stevens Point with a bachelor’s degree in 1961. She enjoyed a teaching career that spanned 37 years. We estimate that she taught over 1000 children in Central Wisconsin during her cherished days as a teacher!
Venita married Gerald (Jerry) Burling (who survives her) in 1963, and they enjoyed 59 years together, enjoying travel and family. She and Jerry raised their family in the Stevens-Point area and Venita is also survived by all three children: her daughter, Amy McKeough (John), and sons Brian Burling and Jeff (Kelly) Burling. Additionally, her beloved grandchildren, Samantha, Maxwell, Nikolas, Aaron, Brianna, Sydney and Cassadee.
Venita is further survived by five sisters and five great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Many will deeply miss her, though her presence is not at all diminished. Memories of her impactful years teaching so many, her artistic gifts and gentle and generous spirit offered to so many will live on.
A service will be held on September 17th at The Federated Church of Green Lake (489 Scott St, Green Lake, WI) at 11:00 AM. Family and friends are invited and welcomed to pay their final respects to Venita at this service and to join us for a reception following the service at the Heidel House (653 Illinois Ave. Green Lake, WI) beginning at noon and open until 4 PM.
