With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Richard Jay Parker of Etowah, Tennessee, born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 27, 2025 at the age of 70. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
In the vast expanse of eternity, may Richard Jay find peace everlasting, cradled in the gentle embrace of the universe. And as we stand on the shores of remembrance, may his legacy inspire us to live each day with purpose, passion, and profound gratitude for the gift of life itself.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Norman L. Parker and Mary H. Farmer Parker; his wife Ella Smith Parker of Etowah; his children, Sarah Diggs of Etowah, Tenn. and Daniel Diggs of Seattle, Wash.; his brother Ken Parker (Jan) of Chattanooga; his niece Sarah Newby (Chris); and his great-nieces and great-nephews, Tinsley and Madison.
Visitation was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Allen Memorial United Methodist (800 Decatur Pike, Athens, TN 37303). A funeral service was held on Thursday, April 3rd 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital.
