He was predeceased by: his wife Nancy Jane Moates; his parents, Charles Moates and Regena Moates; and his brothers, Jerry Moates and Larry Moates.
He is survived by: his sons, Shawn Moates and Shane (Lisa Moates); his grandchildren, Austin Moates (Jennifer) and Jaden Moates; his great grandchild Ashton Moates; and his sisters-in-law, Nancy Dee Moates, Annette Swafford and Doris Williams. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Bordwine Funeral Home (203 Ohio Ave, Etowah, TN 37331). A memorial service was held on Monday, April 7th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
