He was predeceased by: his mother Dorothy Nell Gambrell Thompson; and his siblings, Billy Wade Thompson and Patricia Darlene Thompson. He is survived by: his wife Susan Threet Thompson of Ethridge, TN; his daughter Lilli Thompson of Ethridge, TN; his father Willie Ray Thompson of Collinwood, TN; his brother Terry Wayne Thompson (Teresa) of Waynesboro, TN; and his half-brothers, Justin Thompson (Candice) of Collinwood, TN and Jeremy Thompson (Sarah) of Collinwood, TN. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Mars Hill Baptist Church, Kid's Place/ A Child Advocacy Center or The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
