She was predeceased by: her parents, George William Gilliam and Susie Sherman Gilliam; her former husband Barney Stevens; her husband Leon Vandiver; and her siblings, George William Gilliam Jr. and Mary Atkins.
She is survived by: her daughters, Joy Gunter (Tommy) and Judy Ann Stevens; her grandchild Thomas E. Akers, Jr.; her niece Carolyn Ridner; her great-niece Sylene Tipps (Jordan); and her great-nephew Daniel Ridner. She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.
