He was predeceased by: his parents, Burnie Adkins and Lydia Adkins; his wife Lorene; his siblings, Burnie Adkins, Jr., Gerald Adkins and Genevieve Yates; and his siblings-in-law, Janice Adkins, Hazel Adkins and Ward Wilson.
He is survived by: his daughter Tammy Peterson (Sherrill); his grandson Joshua Peterson (Haley); his siblings, Max Adkins of Erwin, Steve Adkins (Judy) of Erwin, Joanna Wilson of Erwin, Gwanda Runion of Erwin and Bernice Miller (Farrell) of Burnsville, NC; and his siblings-in-law, Kenneth Yates, Faye Adkins of Erwin, Alice Whitson, Atlas Hughes, Etta Murphy and Eugene Peterson. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
