She was predeceased by: her parents, James Clifford and Mary Adelaide Rule (O'Brien); and her husband Robert Franklin Sams. She is survived by: her children, Bob Sams (Karen), Scott Sams and Pam Sims (Mike); her brother Jim Rule (Susan); her grandchildren, Jeff Clark (Lindsey), Justin Sims (Katie), Chris Clark (Alina Saez) and Stephanie Sams; her great grandchildren, Sadler Sims, Presley Sims and Anna Clark; and her niece Courtney Williams.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Joan's name to Erwin Presbyterian Church, 105 N Elm Avenue, Erwin, TN 37650.
